Search boxes, feeds and assistants are all built on a guess about intent. The guessing has improved. The handling of a wrong guess largely has not.
Where interfaces fail
A product infers, acts, and presents the result as though it were certain. When the inference is right this feels effortless. When it is wrong the person has no way back into the reasoning.
A more honest interface
Show the inference, make it editable, and let the person correct it once rather than fight it repeatedly. This is slower to design and considerably more durable.
The signal to watch
Whether products start exposing confidence honestly. Saying less when a system knows less is a design decision, not a technical limitation.
